Rome - Relaxing in Trastevere

With all key tourist attractions ticked off the list (Vatican booked for the next day) the plan for today consisted of a well deserved sleep in (9:00am, such a luxury!) and then some shopping on the main shopping road in Central Rome, the Via del Corso, in the morning; followed by an evening at Trastevere (it's a small picturesque suburb with a very hard name to pronounce, every time Mick said it, it came out in a different way). Mick bought some very European shorts - short shorts that are above the knee and bright cobalt blue in colour - so that he doesn't look so much like a tourist. Damo bought some more chinos to add to his ever expanding collection.

After lunch at a ristorante on a side street we made our way back to the apartment to get changed and walk over the bridge to Trastevere. We walked along the Tiber River before turning down a side road to find the ivy covered buildings leading to the main square. We had a beer at a place called 'bir and fud' before finding a trattoria to eat at along the main restaurant strip running off the piazza.

Mick over ordered and was so full after his entree and first plate "primo piatti" that he couldn't consider eating his main. That was when his "secondo piatti" came out from the kitchen - lamb and potatoes - and we are talking a quarter of a lamb here. His eyes bulged as he began eating, and he did a really good job of finishing nearly the whole plate. We left soon after as Damo was worried he'd have to carry Mick back to the apartment if he slipped into a 'food coma'.
