26hrs of travelling and still more to go!

After uneventful flights, we have managed to get ourselves to Milano Centrale station and we are now waiting to board our fast train to Venice.

Mick didn't need to resort to sleeping tablets as he found watching Tom Cruise's new movie did the trick! He fell asleep watching it, not once but twice, and barely made it through the 3rd sitting (which is quite amazing given the movie was based off a novel of one of his favourite authors).

My inflight entertainment consisted of trying to get the screen ahead if me to stop flickering, which after a number of resets managed to stay clear long enough for me to watch an entire film before it decided to go back to its familiar tricks.

Anyway we best get on board our train. Next stop Venezia!

Florence Day 2 - lots of little mishaps!

We had such a good plan for sight seeing today, get up early to climb the Duomo (before it got too hot or our feet got tired), then go to the early to join the long queue.

We arrived at the Duomo at 8:30 and were bitterly disappointed to see it didn't open til 10am. So we thought we would bring the visit to the Uffizi forward. When we got to the Uffizi it was crazy, people everywhere! One line to buy tickets then another line after you had your tickets. We decided we didn't need to see any more Madonna and Child paintings today and thought we would visit the Palazzo Signoria/Vecchio. This also had a tower you could climb. To be continued....

In a few hours we will be up in the sky, winging our way to Europe, via a brief stop over in Abu Dhabi.

Getting ready for another adventure!

So the countdown is on, Mick and I are getting ready to leave rainy Sydney for sunnier shores. We will be leaving for Italy and Greece in only 4 sleeps. Visit back to read our accounts as our Mediterranean adventure unfolds.
